How much electricity does a light bulb use

Power usage is calculated in kilowatt-hours. The kilowatt-hour means 1,000 watts per hour. For example, a 100-watt bulb will run for 10 hours and use 1-kilowatt hour.

Method of Calculating Electricity Cost:

1.Walt x amp = watts
2. Watts ÷ 1,000 = kW (kW)
3. kilowatt (kW) x usage time = kilowatt-hours (kWh)
4. kilowatt-hour (kWh) x kWh rate = usage cost
5. Add the TVA power cost adjustment fee for every kWh

The following are examples of many home appliances. These examples use a 10 cents / kWh ratio.
